Gavle located 150 km north of Stockholm will host 1,250 athletes and officials from 51 countries to the 2019 European U23 Championships. This small provincial town’s accommodation options have, however, been mostly taken by the event organisers and the few remaining options have been sold out for over 6 months which is far from ideal for parents, friends and coaches of selected athletes most of whom only want to book close to the championships once team selection has been made.
On this basis we have made our arrangements at the nearest large town of Uppsala with its direct rail and public bus transport links to Gavle taking 45 mins as a viable practical option. Uppsala is also very well connected to Stockholm Arlanda airport which is just 20 mins travelling time by direct train.
